Significance Of White

All festivals celebrate the goodness and virtuousness in it's ultimate form. Dhanteras is in the honor of the worldly things we need to lead a prosperous and happy life. The day is marked by certain customs and rituals that are peculiar to the festivities of Dhanteras. White holds a great importance in these rituals. On the Dhanteras day the prasadam offered to the deities is in white color, the Dhanteras gifts in shiny white color are preferred and even the prayers are offered to the white idol of the deity. Thus, white is the predominant color for the day.

If we probe into the significance of the color, white in Hinduism, the image of Goddess Saraswati strikes in our mind. She is depicted as wearing a white sari, which further signifies the enlightenment of mind. Being a benefactor of knowledge and education, her white attire encourages us to adopt the traits of cleanliness, purity and peace. On the other hand, the color of Lord Shiva's body is white too. Thus, the color white has a prominent place in the religion of Hindus.

According to the Indian Astrolgers, white represents the planet Venus. It is a believed that the Kundali (horoscope), there is a strong influence of this particular planet, would be favored with luck, fame, glory, love and peace. The fact to be noticed here is that all these favors are mundane. And the same is purpose of celebrations of Dhanteras. Thus, buying gold, silver, platinum and even steel are considered auspicious.

In order to maintain a synergy between the traditions and the modernistic life style, big and small jewelry and steel companies come up with different items that you can buy for your home to add authenticity to your puja rituals or can gift these to your loved ones thereby wishing their wellbeing. If you can afford platinum, then it is the best among all. It is supposed to enhance rational thinking and intelligence and boost business. Otherwise, you can choose from silver and steel that attract as many positive vibrations as platinum.

Enrich your celebrations of Dhanteras with the goodness of white and include in your life it's positive effects.
