Diwali is one of the favorite and most celebrated festivals of India. On the fifteenth night of Amavasya, the entire country is covered with the blanket of thousands and thousands of lights coming from diyas, candles and sometimes from electric bulbs as well. All this create a heaven like atmosphere on the pious land of India. Yet, in a big and culturally diverse country like India, any festival has it's regional connotations despite the fact that the essence of it remains the same.



In rural belts Diwali is jubilated for it brings along the harvest season that is going to reap results of their year long hard work on their farmland. Whereas, for people living in urban regions, Diwali is is a economic high when most of the monetary profit are obtained. Office going people get big Diwali bonus and business men earn a lot of profit with shopping spree on it's full swing. On the other hand, people surrounding the area of Ayodhya, like from Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Bihar celebrate the festival to commemorate the coronation of Lord Rama. Similarly, other regions have their own interpretations of the festival thereby giving it different manifestations.
